Kim Ogburn’s Featured Artist show will include three new sculptures unveilings
including a 6’x4′ kinetic wildlife piece made from plywood, a spiritual piece using
ceramic shapes with fused glass, and a hammered stainless steel sea creature.
Kim creates sculptures with wood, metal, clay, tile and glass. Many of the pieces are
large, and some kinetically move with the wind. Nature is the dominant theme.
Kim built a large public art sculpture named SEA LEVEL in 2010 for the Port of San
Diego’s Urban Trees 7 event on the Embarcadero. The City of Coronado Purchased
SEA LEVEL and installed it in front of the new Coronado Boathouse and Clubroom.
For the last 15 months Kim has been supervising the building a new studio and meeting
center for San Diego sculptor James Hubbell at his property located near Julian. The
project is 50% complete and continues to evolve as a sculptural and architectural
centerpiece. It compliments the 8 existing unique studios and buildings and endless
artwork at this artist compound. Kim’s honored to watch James Hubbell create
incredible organic compositions that that depict the life and the environment he lives in.
His architecture and art surrounds and inspires Kim everyday
